I currently work at VCU as an Automation and DevOps Platform Engineer. My goal is to enable developers and operations specialists throughout the university to work more efficiently and reliably by developing and maintaining tools that foster automation and self-service.
Before starting my current position I spent 4 years as a Linux Operating Systems Analyst where I was responsible for building, administering, and troubleshooting many specialized Red Hat, CentOS, and Rocky Linux servers. During this time, I also developed an interest in container/kubernetes architecture (OKD, OpenShift, and finally VMware Tanzu), and automation principals/tools that led me to my current role. Prior to that, I worked for Henrico County Public Schools as a Windows Systems Administrator where I heavily utilized SCCM to build images, deploy software, and maintain server configuration baselines.
In my spare time I like to tinker with old electronics and hardware, read about science and technology, practice writing code, engage in political/technological discussions, and occasionally participate in citizen journalism.
